The song lyrics by OneRepublic…“Everything that kills me makes me feel alive” is a favourite song of Toni and her 19 year-old son. After they had gone through major challenges in life, individually and together, the song became a bond they shared. Her son’s decision to start life over and move to Australia at such a young age impacted her dramatically, however, the pain she experienced made her realise she was indeed alive and that life moves on, and in time, she grew proud of her son’s strength. Her tattoo covers her back and extends down her leg. It took 16 hours to complete. Toni says this experience was her take on the saying “what hurts you makes you stronger”.
